Also leaving us on the 31st October is the highly talented Elliott Taylor who has decided to take the leap into the world of freelance editing. Elliott shared the following words with us;

"As most of you already know, after a 9-year exclusive association with Sky, I’ve decided to take the jump and go freelance in an effort to work on new projects and gain more experiences within the industry. There are just too many people I would like to mention who have been there for me throughout my years here. But I’d like to take the opportunity to thank one person in particular. Nine years ago this month, an editor by the name of Matt Lee allowed me to shadow him in his edit suite for a couple of weeks, to learn from him and get some advice on working in the industry.  If it wasn’t for his help and guidance during that time, I wouldn’t have been able to work for Sky and have the pleasure of getting to know some great people across the company. So, I have him to thank {and you all have him to blame} for me getting to know you all. Cheers Matt!! 

I have known Matt for over 20 years when I worked as a documentary maker for Sky Arts. Together we worked on a wide variety of programs from inserts to hour length documentaries.  All work was shot based with no storyboards.

He is a true professional to the editing trade. His storytelling adapts to the running time of a programme.  He collaborates, compromises and brings ideas to the programme making process.

As a producer i feel very comfortable knowing Matt is on the edit, knowing changes from either myself or executives are met with no fuss.

I have used Matt as my priority editor over the last 10 years, my first point of call for any post production and it is often said when i show my reel to others the editing is fantastic

I worked with Matt intensely for over a year on a programme for sky sports called 'The Pub Quiz'

Matt is dedicated, diligent and a great professional to have on my side.  The programme needed intense scrutiny to get the edit to the deadline and through QC for transmission.

In all that period Matt was never late, worked over time when necessary and efficiently on his own too.

Matt is a definite asset to any post production, a true professional of his craft.  I had many editors before Matt on the programme that could not grasp the complexity of the edit.  Matt did and took it to another level.

I have worked with Matt on many of my big projects over the past 20 years and in that time he has become a good colleague.Matt is very dedicated and an excellent editor who is always in demand from the creative dept.

He is willing to work on any project that is assigned to him and always offering his creative assistance. I would like to add Matt is an excellent pleasure to work with and makes any job so much easier.

Matt is an excellent editor and creative contributor.  He has continually worked on some of the highest profile creative campaigns to date.  

He is a key player managing technically difficult and creatively challenging campaigns.  He navigated the issues of multiple stakeholders, ensuring fluid post production process and always delivers first class work

Matt has been a key member of the promotions team since i took over as a co-coordinator.  There isn't a member of the team that complains about Matt. 

 He is a solid editor working across Tier 2 projects or picking up from other editors work too.  Matt just gets on with it.  He is always going the extra mile (workflow for grading or specific requirements from flame ops).

Working with Matt has been nothing short of excellent.  Matt brings a terrific amount of energy to any project and his organizational and technical skills are second to none.  

His thirst for a great end product and the clear enjoyment he gets from editing is infectious and a real help in creating a great working environment.

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt over the past 15 years.  He brings passion, originality and dedication to every project I have worked on, either big or small.

If I ever have a technical or editorial question, I always seek out Matt first for his advise.  He always seems to have time for everyone, even if his deadlines are tight.

Matt and I have collaborated on a vast amount of campaigns, indents and day to day promotions.

His attention to detail in delivering content to audio is spot on, making mixing a pleasure.

When the director is not around Matt always steps in to give creative guidance and enjoys collaboration, which is refreshing.
